The American Arachnological Society (AAS) is a professional organization dedicated to furthering the science and awareness of research on arachnids (spiders and their relatives) through the advancement and professional development of all its members. The AAS is dedicated to providing a safe, hospitable, and productive environment for everyone involved in research, regardless of gender, ethnicity, religion, disability, physical appearance, cultural background, or sexual orientation. We value contributions by those interested in this part of Earth’s biodiversity regardless of your professional status. It is important to remember that a scientific community grows and progresses when it cultivates a culture of excellence based on mentorship, encouragement, tolerance, and mutual respect.
The AAS accomplishes the dissemination of information about arachnids through annual meetings, mentorship and support of the next generation of scientists, and through publications, including the Journal of Arachnology.
